Vitalize Peel Pre-Treatment Instructions

If you are considering Vitalize Peels for the treatment of acne, dyschromia, melasma, hyperpigmentation, or aging, then you are likely wondering how to best care for your skin in the days prior to your treatments. Vitalize or Rejuvenize Peels are a useful step toward a healthier, more luminous complexion.  It is important that you follow the pre-peel instructions provided by Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center and that you avoid sun exposure before and after each peel.

 

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS:

Who is NOT a candidate for a a Vitalize or Rejuvenize peel?

  • Patient’s with an active cold sore, warts, skin with open wounds, a sunburn, excessively sensitive skin, dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea in the areas being treated. Please all us to reschedule your appointment if you develop any of these conditions.
  • Those who have tanned or  been in a tanning fbed within one month of your chemical peel appointment.
  • Those who have a history of allergic or other skin reactions to chemical peels.
  • Those who have taken Accutane with in the last year or have received radiation or chemotherapy treatments.
  • Women who are pregnant or breast feeding.
  • Those who have had a recent sunburn.

 

Three – Four weeks prior to your treatment you should avoid the following:

  • Other skin treatments
  • Tanning or use of a tanning bed
  • Unprotected sun exposure

 

One week prior to treatment you should avoid the following:

  • Electrolysis
  • Depilatory Creams
  • Waxing
  • Laser Hair Removal
  • Alpha-Hydroxy Acids
  • Any product that dries or irritates your skin

 

5 days before prior to treatment you should avoid the following:

  • Retin –A
  • Renova
  • Differen
  • Any product containing Vitamin A, Retinol, Tretinol, Benzyl Peroxide
  • Any exfoliating products

 

The day of your peel treatment:

  • Do not shave
  • Arrive with clean skin free of all skincare and cosmetics and your hair pulled back.

Please contact our office prior to your treatment if you have any questions or need clarity on the pre-care instructions you received during your consultation.  It is important to follow your instructions completely to avoid possible complications.

Monthly Microdermabrasion Club

Well…join the club! We are all aging every day!  But, how apparent your signs of aging become is up to you.  Coco Channel once said “Nature gives you the face you have at twenty, it’s up to you to merit the face you have at fifty.”  I think that pretty much sums it up! Taking care of your skin through preventative maintenance can make all the different in your appearance.

For most, the signs of aging appear far sooner than we think they will, or at least far sooner than we are prepared for! Preventative maintenance like regularly scheduled in-office microdermabrasion is one way to slow that process and diminish the signs of aging.  A few years back, Dr. Castillo created a Monthly Microdermabrasion Club for the patients at Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center to assist them with effective and economical way to improve and maintain their skin.

So how does the Monthly Microdermabrasion Club Work?

You can enroll anytime between January and August of each year. You will pay a yearly club fee which is prorated to the month in which you begin.  All memberships expire on December 31st of each year. You receive one Medical Microdermabrasion treatment every month from the time you purchase your club membership until the end of the year.  As of January 2020, Dr. Castillo will also extend a new, exclusive promotion each month for club members only!

As a skincare specialist,  I will closely examine your skin, take a detailed history, discuss any skin conditions, allergies and concerns. Each of these factors along with your goals are compiled to develop the best plan for you. We will discuss in detail why we recommend a specific treatment such as CO2 Micro-Fractional Laser Resurfacing, Intense Pulse Light or

effective skincare product, as it pertains directly to you.  You will leave with a clear understanding of the benefits and risks and what to expect before and after your treatment.

I think our skincare patients would tell you the most valuable advantage is the wealth of information and advice you will receive. We remove the guess work, the myths, the false hype of the next best fad and simply present you with proven-effective options that will help you reach your goals. A skincare specialist can educate you on the right ingredients for cleansers, moisturizers, sun screens, anti-oxidants, boosters and retinoids to help you see results fast and get the most out of each application not to mention the fun stuff like experimenting with different make up colors and looks.

Once you have established a patient relationship with me as your skincare specialist, I am available to discuss questions or directions you may have forgotten over the phone.  This type of individualized service just isn’t available at a makeup counter or through on-line ordering.  Our goal is to prescribe the right treatments and at-home products so that you never again end up with a drawer full of products that don’t work!
