This 27-year old from Champaign/Urbana was seen for liposculpture. She is 150-pounds, measures 5'7" and is active in exercise and outdoor activities.

She has been aware all of her life that her proportions between her upper and lower body are different in the sense that her thigh/buttock region is much wider than her shoulders, which causes difficulties in the sense that she is unable to wear certain garments because her thigh area is too wide. It is difficulty to find pants that fit both her waist and her buttock/thigh areas. She is particularly self-conscious when wearing swimwear since she is unable to camouflage the width of her buttock/thigh region. As many people who are genetically built like a pear, she has noticed that exercise has failed to improve the proportions of her body.

During her consultation we pointed out that reducing the width of her hips, thighs, buttocks and stomach would improve her proportions. This would give her a very desirable proportional relationship between the width of her shoulders and the width of her hips/thighs.

Liposuction in Champaign/Urbana’s Cosmetic Plastic Surgery fully accredited outpatient surgical suite was carried out of the buttocks, thighs, hips, stomach and waist. A total of 3,200cc of pure fat was removed from these areas. She was placed in a supportive garment. She was kept ambulatory and allowed to do any routine light activities, including walking, for the first week. The surgery was done through very small, stab-like entry points with very small cannulas so that incisions were not necessary. Other than minimal bruising and moderate swelling of the operated areas, she experienced only minimal discomfort. She reassumed light exercise after one week, and full-unrestricted exercises three weeks after surgery. She was able to return to work within four days of the surgery and was pleased to know that the whole surgical event went unnoticed by friends and work peers.

Before and after photographs show a remarkable change in body appearance with the lower body being in good proportion to the upper body. There is an improvement of 3 inches in circumference. Straight or fitted dresses, skirts and pants are very flattering to her figure at this point. She also notices that this change in proportion has made her look taller than she appeared in her previous shape.
