This 28-year old female from Champaign-Urbana, sought consultation at Cosmetic Plastic Surgery with a history of having been an active, sports-oriented, 5'9", 155-pound, trim individual. Her complaint was twofold. The main complaint was that of significant breast droopiness with unsightly stretch marks that had developed as a result of her pregnancy and beautiful baby. It was not surprising to her that she had stretch marks since she had seen this in her mother; however, never the less, it was extremely important to her to minimize these changes. Her second concern was that of lack of fullness and a disconnect between her pectoral muscle and breast tissue. With an active career in law enforcement, she was eager to return to full activities as soon as possible.

During her consultation we had the time to review possibilities - the use of different prostheses, but particularly to make it clear that the use of saline prostheses behind the muscle would result in the so-called double bubble due to the significant droopiness of both breasts. To address this, most plastic surgeons would do a breast lift or mastopexy at the time of the procedure. However, she was adamant and not receptive at having to have incisions on her breasts for a breast lift. As an alternative, we discussed the use of silicone prostheses above muscle and within the substance of her own breasts. She agreed that this would probably be the only way that she would elect to proceed with surgery and after a period of careful reflection by her and her family, a breast augmentation with smooth silicone prostheses, above muscle and behind breast tissue, was carried out with 401cc prostheses in our fully accredited surgical facility in Champaign, Illinois.

Even though the surgery was done with incisions in the nipple area, she recovered uneventfully and was back to work within one week. Following surgery, she stated that she was very gratified to find out that not only was she full again as she had been during her teenage years, but that there was a normal connection between her breasts and her pectoral area with correction of the very nagging lack of volume in her upper breasts. She was also pleasantly surprised as to how quickly the incisions became invisible around her nipple areas. She’s also delighted that the stretch marks that were so visible when her breasts were deflated are now barely visible.

Before and after pictures show the significant improvement, and also the need to fit the size of the prostheses to the size of the patient. At 5'9 and 155-pounds, she is very well proportioned with 400+ prostheses.
